1 Little Bird

My best friend had her first child, July of last year. She named her baby Richelle. And for Richelle's first birthday, I wanted to give this special little girl, a real special gift.

So I wrote, designed, and crafted a book for her. And it was my first book. So this book was extra special all around. Full of love.

(The only accident... the title was suppose to be 1 Little Bird)

"A Little Bird"
1 little bird
Lives in 1 big tree
She flies with her Dad
And sings with her Mom
This little bird is as happy as can be

What to do with ugly bowls...

I came across these 2 plastic bowls in a free box. I knew I wouldn't use it as a dining bowl, and too ugly to have sitting around the house.

So, I bedazzled it. Not in the gross sparkle crap. With leftover fabric and garden twine. I love how they turned out. I used spray adhesive to glue the fabric, and hot glue for the twine. This was a simple and fast project, with a great turnout.

Portland Ignite 8

Last night I attended a full house to listen to 5 minute lectures by 20 of Portland's very own. It was at Baghdad Theatre (which by the way is a beautiful theatre inside). I found these Portland Ignite 7 pictures which I also attended back I think in Oct or Nov:

It's similar to TED, but Ignite is locally based, locally supported, and locally viewed. For the brief 5 minutes you listen, laugh a little, learn a little, and hopefully be inspired. I don't know what they expect the audience to get out of it. But I enjoy listening to what our community has experienced and what they are passionate about. Here's a few I liked:

You can go to IgnitePortland.com to see the list and see what they talked about. Some of these lectures you like so much that you want to go on for more than 5 minutes. So Portland Ignite is almost like a blue balling teaser, but for knowledge, not for VD. Next one is September. And I would like everyone to go.

Marshmallow Test

Heres a video I stumbled upon. Its a test to hold out on eating a marshmallow. If you waited as instructed, you will be rewarded with two marshmallows. And for any 4 or 5 year old, how difficult is it to let the mouth watering, white pillow of sugary sweet substance stare you in face? Wait, and there will be two that you can eat.

One marshmallow is great, but two would be sublime.

Feels good to be in progress

I updated my website: www.stephaniedimaandal.com

I've been working on my site for a while. My last site I constructed from scratch, a blank piece of html paper. This time, I jumped to the opportunity to use Wordpress. Its simple, sweet and fun. And hopefully this will work for a while.

And I've also finished round 1 of T.I.A's website (Transformation In Arts) the non-profit I volunteer with. Hopefully we, as in the board and I, can finalize it, and this non-profit can be live, online.

So it feels good to be progressing. I shall keep the ball rolling.
